Big Green Books 500 Club
WELCOME TO THE BIG GREEN BOOKS 500 CLUB
 I'm always trying to come up with ways of helping out schools with books, be it raffles, crowdfunders, or anything else I can think of! But this isn't my idea at all!
Earlier this year Nic Perrins (an ace customer and all round excellent person) got in touch with me to offer me £500 to buy books for schools with. Nic had set up her own 500 Club, to raise money for good causes. I absolutely LOVED the idea, and asked if I could borrow it! Which Nic was more than happy to do.
Here's the idea.
I'm asking for people to pay £1 a week into a dedicated bank account. Once £500 is raised, I'll then send a school £500 of books, of their choice. And then the money starts being raised for the next school, and so on...
If you'd prefer not to set up a weekly standing order, but would still like to help, you're VERY welcome to send some money!
Initially getting to £500 might take a while, but obviously, the more weekly £1 donations, the quicker it'll be.
I know so many schools with tiny budgets, that are absolutely desperate for books, and I thought that maybe I could set up a 500 Club that was dedicated to getting books into schools.
So that's what i'm doing!
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
Well I suppose it almost goes without saying, but the best way to help would be to join the Big Green Books 500 Club.
This has only just started (25th July 2025), and i've no idea how popular it's going to be.
I've set up a new Bank Account with Lloyds, which is separate from my business account. If you'd like to join, please set up a weekly £1 standing order (if your bank doesn't do weekly standing orders, it's just as good to set up a monthly one for £4-£5).

Westwood Primary School have just received £500 of books, courtesy of The 500 Club.

DECEMBER 5TH
We reached our second £500 and the second school Blackwood Primary have now received their books!
They sent me this picture. I'm not very good at resizing etc, but the message says.
"Dear Big Green Books 500 Club
Thanks you for your kind donation of £500 for new books. Each class enjoyed making lists of books they would like. We had great fun unpacking the books to see what had been sent! OCTOBER 2025
I'm thrilled to share with you this picture, from Harlands Primary School.
The recipients of the first 500 Club books!
 The school sent me lovely long list of books they wanted and I was able to get pretty much all of them. HAPPY KIDS!!!
The money for the next school is gradually building up again, so hopefully it won't be too long before we can surprise the next school on the list!

Friday September 26th
The 500 Club has now reached £480.
I've been in touch with Harlands Primary School in Haywards Heath and offered to buy them £500 of books.
They're currently putting together a wishlist.
Once they've got this to me and I've sent the books to them, they PROMISED to take loads of pictures, so I could share them with you.

As of September 1st, there is now £220 in the account.
This is briliant! It's only been going for 5 weeks, and i'm so grateful to everyone who's helped out.
I've had a number of schools that have got in touch to ask for some help, so with a bit of luck, it won't be long before we reach the first £500!
